Following up from 2 weeks ago when seeing trends in the office and exploring that communication with practice members about your findings for them specifically, or in general; you need a follow-up. We talked about symptom trends post covid or post covid injection so how to broach this subject with practice members:
By example, as people experience more nerve system arousal, bruxism is a common development. We’ve discussed other common developments since early in the covid era like heart issues, breathing issues, fatigue, anxiety, blood sugar and more.
The conversation could simply be, “does anyone in your family grind their teeth at night?” And, their answer doesn’t matter! Yes: we’re seeing a lot of that and thats why I asked. No: great because we’re seeing a lot of that and that’s why I asked. Or, simply, “why do you ask?” I ask because we’re seeing a lot of that.
Regardless of answer, you get to explain how bruxism is a common issue resulting from an over stimulated nervous system and whatever else you might add.
In the past you might have followed up this (or any) explanation with, “do you have any questions and/or do you understand?” It seems they never have questions and always understand….but they don’t so try these follow ups: So, what did you learn from my explanation? What one thing did I say that stood out most in your mind? How would you communicate this to others? In today’s video Dr. Dan and I explore this and, at the end, Dr. Dan mentions how he is seeing a lot more people suffering with migraines lately. This is something that dovetails nicely with both heart and liver issues post injection as docs are (and have been) reporting an increase in subluxation findings at C7 and T1.

There are really 2 vastly different issues at play here.
Issue #1 – Yes, patients leave and it is almost always due to a lack of understanding, education and the doctor’s inability to create agreement. If they knew what you do, they would do what you do. What did you need to know (what was the turning point) that changed you from using chiropractic for a particular problem and caused you to embrace it as a necessary life style? That’s what they need to know too! Patients leave because you didn’t create value in their mind to continue. You met THEIR expectations but, while doing so, did not effectively communicate how they would benefit from continued care. We address this with docs in Mastery Coachingas we help them build their patient education system.
Issue #2 – Have you ever considered the patient’s perspective asking themselves, “why did the doctor leave me?” What’s their experience in your office? When their priority was to get rid of a problem, they had your time and attention as you communicated, evaluated, explained and rendered care.
While you would never want THEM reducing their care because their symptoms improved, how often have you reduced their care because their symptoms improved?
Their priorities have shifted because they’re feeling better and you seem to be doing the same thing (or less) to them every visit for the same money as before. WHY did you leave them is an appropriate question.
Why do we layer care off as people improve instead of layer care on in order to help them functionally evolve?
If you don’t know the answer to that question, how can you expect your practice members to understand how you are different from their allopathic doctor?
Dr. Dan and I are looking at post-covid trends in practice. What are you seeing now that COVID has run its way through your office-any clinical or objective changes?

We asked the question, “what’s happening in your world?” to look and see if patterns patterns are emerging in practice, what it may mean and how to best discuss it. This will, in turn, increases your ability to predict patient concerns.
Docs are seeing insidious onset of low back pain, bruxism and ear infections. Most, if not all, are directly or indirectly, post shot. (Indirect post shot is exposure to those that have had the shot(s). Dr. Dan and I discuss this in a very short FaceBook LIVEand we will finish with a part II soon to cover how I would communicate these issues pro-actively or re-actively in practice…so stay tuned to Chiropractic Mastery
The key is to have your peeps understand who you are, what you do and what makes you different than other, so called, health care providers.

We often get questions and testimonials on our FaceBook Forum If you’re not yet a member, its free and easy to join so please do. Recently we received this from one of the docs on the Forum:
An awesome patient testimonial I thought I would share. Patient was seeking care for severe low back pain after a few falls. During her intake, she mentioned since having covid last year she will get a rash on her abdomen and lower extremities every time she exercises or walks for long periods of time. She asked MDs and they had no explanation and recommended to take Benadryl. This week I followed up with her to ask about the rash, and she said since receiving nervous system adjustments she has not had any rashes even without taking Benadryl. How awesome!
Needless to say, Dr. Bronstein and I reviewed this in one of our FaceBook Live video chats because, while we love the results our docs are getting, and we love hearing about patient WINS; we especially love the opportunity for docs to attract non-pain practice members. Dr. Dan and I discuss all of this and more…check it out:
We are now looking at post-covid trends in practice…here’s what we just received from an early MC2 adapter:
I’ve noticed more celiac plexus after C1 is cleared and anterior T12 within these past few months. Specifically after (or during) their immune system has responded to a stomach “bug” followed by congestion.
What are you seeing on the table now that COVID has run its way through your office-any clinical or objective changes or differences? Do let us know either on the MC2 Facebook Forum or directly via email at [email protected]
And We Get Testimonials too:
I just want to send a thank you to you for all you do and teach! Since taking MC2 in Sept 2021 and then having a follow up phone call with you, I have slowly transitioned my side of my husband and my practice to almost fully cash based and fully tonal chiropractic. I have truly seen so much fruit from these changes and following my “gut” instincts. My side of the practice has been growing almost effortlessly and it is so fulfilling! I myself feel less stressed and happier with how I am practicing now. The patient results have also been so much better. So again just sending a thank you because it has changed me, our practice, and our patients lives.
What could be better? We love hearing unsolicited testimonials like this one and we’d love to hear from you too!

Questions and Testimonials
Many, but not all newsletter subscribers are MC2 docs, I always try to be inclusive so that the info presented has value for all DC’s. That said, while Gallagher’s Test is specific to MC2, the reason we perform it can be applied to virtually any technic that seeks balance as an objective.
It is a misundertood test, even within MC2 because it is similar to another test but gives completely different information. It is a post, prone C1 re-check and may also be indicative of a lower extremity injury. All of this is discussed with Dr. Dan in the video below.
Another FAQ is the difference between MC2 and TRT. Here’s my response:
While a somewhat generic answer can be found on my site, to fully appreciate the differences, a little history is needed.
MC2 (Mastering Chiropractic with Certainty) is built on Torque Release and Upper Cervical engines. The similarities to Torque Release are that we both look at areas of dural attachment as primaries. Both technics can be done by hand or with adjusting instruments and we both recommend the same type of table for assessment and adjusting. Dr. Holder and I, after co-teaching in New Mexico decades ago, agree that DC’s that are exposed to both technics invariably have a better understanding and depth of application than those that study one or the other.
That’s where the similarities end…here’s what happened: I took one of the first TRT seminars in Chicago in 1995 and loved it. After two weeks of application back in my upper cervical and full spine practice, I was amazed to see how few people needed an upper cervical adjustment. At the time I thought I’d done a great job on their C1 but then I decided to check their upper cervicals the way I had previously….supine.
I was shocked to see that the overwhelming majority of people checked atlas clear prone with TRT but absolutely not clear when checking them in a standard upper cervical supine analysis. And thats when the first major shift or departure took place.
I decided a clear upper cervical spine was more important than being non-linear (although there are many ways to define non-linear) and so I checked and cleared the upper cervicals in my patients and then proceeded to do TRT.
When I did so, I found much less was needed. 91% of the people I adjusted on any given day only needed to be adjusted in two areas or less. In the process of doing less and doing different to my patients from one visit to the next, I also found that many of the TRT indicators fell by the wayside and the Lovett pairs portion of the analysis also bore me very little fruit. What were the primaries without relying on spinal pairing? I found the 3 transition zones in the dorsal spine were more active on my patients. I found very little coccyx, occiput or sphenoid involvement after clearing C1 so this new assessment became a more efficient approach for me.
While many of non-linear approaches find something to adjust on every visit; I often find nothing needs to be done (BJ’s concept of Intelligent Adaptation). To me, the best indicator to alter a care program is wheen nothing needs to be done. Lastly, I found that, in the absence of an upper cervical subluxation, the Derifield leg check showed more than the difference between lumbo-sacral vs sacro-iliac involvement. It showed distortion of the dura in either a vertical (flexion-extension) or horizontal (rotational) plane. Derifield’s findings are a sub-set of a bigger picture.
We have recently discovered a stress induced pattern in people (covered in the advanced and Symposium materials)…..Study the info on the ANTERIOR T12.
To summarize some of the more important differences between MC2 and TRT:
MC2 is linear. We access and adjust (when needed) the UC spine first.
It is, none the less NON-LINEAR, in that we find that every action does NOT produce an equal and opposite reaction. We also address balance differently and we expect patients to be balanced with 3 or fewer adjustments on a visit.
MC2 teaches two primary indicators prone with one anomaly (now Ant T12)
MC2 introduces and uses a procedure known as bio-toning to determine a precise contact point and line of drive for every adjustment on every visit
While there are certainly other differences, my hope is that those interested in finding out more will both visit the chiropracticmastery.com website and join us either at an upcoming live seminar or on Streaming Video (available on the website).

How to perform it - why its important:
TORQUE Simplicity on the far side of Complexity ___Your Practice and Your Business___
Sometimes, we over-think things. This past week Dr. Dan mentioned that he’d seen a lot of down-torquing into the spine on both sides. He wasn’t sure what to make of the pattern and so we hopped on a call.
Turns out, and you’ll see this in the video, he was describing a pattern but was also way over-thinking it. The first few minutes discuss the fact that torque always is towards the spine but sometimes it’s clockwise and sometimes counter-clockwise.
We resolve this fairly quickly and its presented here so you can also give some thought to patterns that may be presenting themselves. I created a TORQUE FIELD MAP but suggest you do the research in your own practice.
By way of example only: If you find clockwise torque going up the body on the left, you will also find counter-clockwise torque going up the body on the right. And, of course, visa versa. If you find counter-clockwise going lateral to medial on the left, you will find clockwise torque going lateral to medial on the right.
We also mention in the video that General Torque Fields are discussed in both LIVE Advanced MC2 modules and in the SYMPOSIUM video. Check the website for future MC2 programs with an ADVANCED module or simply get access to the Symposium video (available as a $200 upgrade to those who already have the MC2 video). Earlier this week, the question was asked, “Has anyone had T1, T6, and T12 show up in the same visit? I’ve had that a few times recently. It almost feels like those areas are connected (like resetting their whole thoracic region), as opposed to completely separate primary patterns. Wondering if anyone else has noticed?”
As opposed to looking at this structurally and as a dorsal spine reset, it makes more sense to me to see this as a SYMPATHETIC DOMINANT PATTERN of distortion.
Why we’re starting to see this pattern may indicate nervous systems moving from almost continuous fight or flee over the past 2 years to a state of nervous system exhaustion. And, while there certainly may be physical and chemical stresses at the root of this, my hypothesis is that these patterns are more likely to be a product of relentless emotional stress.

Many are not getting the quantity and quality of rest that they had in the past and that they need? Dr. Dan and I discuss below the neurology behind chronic over arousal and, now, exhausted nervous systems.
Why is this important?
It’s important from personal, business and clinical standpoints. Are you at the top of your game? If not, this impacts your business and practice. Clinically, it brings you back to discerning the WHY and contributes to your certrainty in predicting findings. This creates a strong communications tool and education opportunity for your practice while creating expectations.

While Dr. Dan and I recently discussed our individual responses to and recovery from Covid, what came up in the conversation was conceptual and can be applied to a wide variety of circumstances and situations.
I’m usually quite private about many apects of my life and only after nearly complete recovery did I realize the significant benefit my experience may have on others.
Journaling the Journey is an outgrowth of a concept I promulgated years ago about discovering and checklisting successful actions in life, in practice, in parenting, in relationships, in finances and more. We termed these _____Works checklists.
Regarding covid, this could be a CovidWorks Checklist. I also encourage you to create, and I’m happy to help you, a LifeWorks Checklist, a FinancesWorks checklist, etc. In all cases, these can be translated for and utilized with practice members in their lives.
This was posted on the MC2 Forum on Facebook a couple of weeks ago and we also posted it here last week. So many people accessed it that I decided to discuss it and its context with Dan (below).
Dr. Darren wrote: “Adjusting and caring for children is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had as a chiropractor. I wanted to share one of those great moments with the group. A mom brought her 10 month old daughter in to see me because her daughter was struggling with constipation, feeding issues, sleep issues and attachment issues. Dad was unable to even hold her or play with her. Today was her first visit after her first adjustment last week. When I asker mom of any changes, she smiled from ear to ear. She said that sleeping was a lot better and dad was even able to hold and play with his daughter. The daycare even commented on how well she was today.
I wanted to share this as a reminder that not only do we impact the health and well being of a child, we also impact the health and well being of everyone around them.
To all Chiros in the group. You’re changing the lives of so many. Keep it up!”
Please pay attention as we discuss the impact care has on children and their family, now and for the rest of their lives. Your impact is beyond measure so do access the video below and be reminded who you are and what you do. YOU ROCK!
