Are Your Actions Creating Results? Are Your Inactions Creating Results? ___Your Practice and Your Business___ Could it be you?? I’ve coached from this model of perception and outcome for decades. It is a two way cybernetic loop…. Your results are a product of your actions Your actions are dictated by your emotional state Your emotional state hinges on your beliefs and perceptions Positive results come from appropriate actions. Appropriate actions are often promulgated by positive emotions and these are caused by beliefs and perceptions you have about yourself that are true. Conversely, negative results come from inappropriate actions which are often promulgated by negative emotions. Negative emotional states are likely based on beliefs and perceptions you have about yourself that are simply not true. Therefore, while most coaching focuses on action and inaction and may even delve into your emotional states, the seed for real change exists in one’s self percception. If you can find the lie(s) you have believed to be true and replace them with truth, the emotions change, the actions change and the results change. Here are 2 of the many reasons why: #1 is the most basic and it boils down to this….Based on your fees, if you were your patient and based on what you would recommend to you for care, could you afford to say yes to you? Given that no one is likely to have more value on your care than you; if you couldn’t/wouldn’t say yes to you then you will unconsciously go into agreement with everyone else that says no to you. Find a fee you would pay and then,at least, you’ll be congruent. #2 is pure business. Take what you bring in in a month and subtract your overhead for the month. This is your NET PROFIT for the month. Now, divide that by the number of adjustments you gave during the month and you’ll know your PROFIT PER VISIT. Once known, you know the pricing structure that will ensure your financial sustainability. Watch: In practice, the value and importance of expecting and explaining to the patient your expectation of them scheduling multiple appointments in advance is that you are reserving the best time for the patient for them for as many visits in advance that they can predict or are comfortable with. Chances are they settle into a particular routine of appointments anyway so why burden your front desk with another transaction each visit? In business, set aside a schedule of specific time slots for major tasks and activities. Now, you control your time and avoid trying to fit everything into your day. This makes you more time efficient and productive. First, identify the actions that will have the most significant impact on your business. These are often strategic activities such as planning. Next, determine how often and for how long each recurring appointment should be and then schedule it. ie-I scheduled regular time each week to review finances, marketing, staff performance and more. The Antidote To Fear Is? ___Your Practice and Your Business___ As mentioned in the last issue, the public is fried. They’ve been caught in fight or flight for so long that they now experience major health shifts. They now notice that the SHOT likely was not a good idea BUT, THE BOTTON LINE is they are AFRAID! Whats the first thing people do? They inhale strongly and, unless the fear abates soon, they run the risk of causing a spastic contraction of the diaphragm causing shallow breathing, anxiety, fatigue and brain fog. And, while MC2 teaches a simple procedure to release this, the underlying issue is FEAR! So, I’ve asked some Mastery Coaching clients what the antidote to fear is and they knew. I’m sure you do too. It’s what we have always done as chiropractors and now I suggest you go out of your way to do so consciously. The antidote to fear is HOPE. While most allopaths coerce based on fear, they rarely provide what the public actually seeks and that is HOPE. How often do people come to you after exhausting every other resource, when they’ve lost hope and we often help them turn their health around but it starts with the HOPE that you have SKILLS that their prior providers didn’t have. Have You Noticed? People Are Fried! ___Your Practice and Your Business___ I just had a very enlightening connversation with one of my long standing Mastery Coaching clients. He expressed how, even now, people are physically, chemically and emotionally damaged in this (post?) covid world. He noticed, and we discussed, that people are showing evidence of systemic deterioration including but not limited to symptoms of demyelinization and muscle atrophy. Further, he explained evidence of irrational behaviors among a small group of his patient population. This, in addition to, organic and systemic issues. I suggested that he begin further documenting his findings, his recommendations and results thereof. I bring this to your attention here to see if your findings are similar and to share the four recommendations I made to him. I suggested he further search for commonalities regarding his recommendations and results obtained amongst his patients I reviewed the new MC2 L3 protocols because, at least in my experience, the major lingering systemic effects of covid are endocrine system dysfunction It appears to me that the people most affected are also the people that are least present so I encouraged him to do what he could to get them more present time conscious One vehicle for that was my suggestion to use the Expectations Formula to formulate and communicate specific expectations of both the DC and the patient and then to create agreement around these by explaining the WHY – WHAT – HOW – WHEN in the report of findings. With Certainty, Dr. Steve Hoffman ___Business and Financial CERTAINTY Skills Corner___ Maximizing Patient Conversions There are many types of conversions like accepting recommendations and converting to active care. Another conversion is “getting it” to continue care beyond symptoms. In today’s world, they both hinge on a 3rd type of conversion impacting and affecting cost and affordability. This regards the doctors ability and willingness to effectively communicate the value of chiropractic care. This is also paramount in the ability to attract new patients willing to invest in their own well-being. Maximizing patient conversions is based on creating a valuable perception or value proposition. For you and me, considering a life without chiropractic care would be so abhorrent that I’d wager we would do almost anything and pay almost anything to insure our one and only nervous system is free from interference. But, what about them? Let’s start with you. What did you need to know, understand and/or experience that changed your perception on the value of being adjusted? I’d wager that YOUR STORY is what you would be best at communicating to others-it is you being your authentic self. Your other option is to ask those that have made the conversion for self and family what they needed to know, understand and/or experience that changed their their perception and value of you and what you do. Experts are still trying to make sense of Long Covid’s lingering effects. According to data from the CDC, at least 17 million Americans currently suffer from it. Long Covid has been associated with more than 200 symptoms, from brain fog to extreme fatigue and debilitating issues like heart disease and stroke. According to Principal Researcher, Dr. Al-Aly, “People might think they’re out of the woods because they had the virus and did not experience health problems.” But, 3 years after infection, the primary complications among those with mild initial COVID cases were found in the neurological, GI, and cardio-pulmonary systems. Al-Aly’s prior research has documented COVID-19’s damage to nearly every human organ, contributing to diseases and conditions affecting the lungs, heart, brain, and the body’s blood, musculoskeletal and gastrointestinal (GI) systems. Do You Know The Universal Stumbling Block To Growth? ___Your Practice and Your Business___ Last week, a commonality in my Mastery Coaching conversations was how so many docs are OVERWHELMED. This results in them fighting to be present since I’ve found that overwhelm causes UNWORKABILITY, which, in turn, stifles growth, This means that overwhelm is a form of “no thanks-I’m full” form of self-sabotage. The problem with overwhelm is that you spend all your time being overwhelmed instead of getting something, anything, completed and out of the way. As a result of the chaos produced, we are telling our Innate, “please-no more.” The bottom line is that the only thing you are going to do today is what you do today. Do you go around thinking that what there is to do today is all that stuff that there is to do (ie-everything that isn’t done)? This is a lie and it leads to ineffectiveness since it mainly results in not being present. This leads to fewer things being completed and, therefore, more to be done. This produces a downward spiral: un-workability. What are you going to do about all the things you aren’t going to get done today? Nothing. They didn’t get done and you’re still alive so focus on what you did do. Focus on your completions and celebrate them. Take a Step. Take action. These are 2 secrets to creating more workability. Are You Profitable?
I was recently editing a bunch of articles fot publication geared, primarily, to new practitioners. While many of the basics were covered like location, equipment, marketing, care plans, fees and more, there was no discussion about profit and profitability. I realized this is a very real problem if the DC doesn’t know their profit per visit, per patient or per hour. Primary to all of this, of course, is to know how to calculate profit.
Basically, and there are many layers to this, income-overhead=profit. How you then calculate it is where you get a clear picture of where you are.
For example, if we look at profit per hour, take your monthly income and subtract your monthly overhead expenses to obtain monthly profit. Now, divide monthly profit by the number of hours you were in the office that month and you will learn your profit per hour.
CAVEAT: Many panic at this point but you can easily alter your numbers. The first order of business is to know your numbers.

Still Using “You’re Holding” Terminology?
If you ever find people “clear” or not needing an adjustment (and I hope you do); how do you acknowledge it? The most popular way is by telling the patient that they are “holding” their adjustment. Yet, if you educated them that the body is a dymanic, constantly evolving, self healing and self regulating organism, in tune with its environment and able to adapt in a timely and appropriate way; why would you tell them that they are stuck?
Isn’t that what holding means? Even going back to BJ and the NCM, the person was either in pattern-stuck and needed an adjustment or they were out of pattern and did not need to be adjusted.

The number one reason I am sought out as a coach is the doc and/or the practice is stuck…it’s not growing or is no longer growing. And, the number one reason I find that growth has become stalled is that the doctor (and/or staff) finds themselves overwhelmed. The problem with being overwhelmed is that you spend all your time being overwhelmed instead of getting something, anything, completed and out of the way. The result is that we are telling our Innate, “please-no more.” What if, instead, you spent the time planning what needed to get done, dumping it, delegating it or just doing it instead of being overwhelmed? You’d get way more done and would contribute to your personal power! The reality is that the only thing you’re going to do today is what you do today. Most people think that what there is to do today is all that stuff that there is to do (ie-everything that isn’t done). This not true and leads to ineffectiveness. Ineffectiveness leads to fewer things being completed and, therefore, more to be done. The result is a downward spiral: un-workability. The only thing there is to do today is what you actually do today! Once you get this and relax a little, you’ll find both personal power and more freedom to choose. Now, you want to go to work-get to it-get it done. Now you have the upward spiral of workability. What are you going to do about all the things you aren’t going to get to today? Nothing. They didn’t get done and you’re still alive so focus on what you did do instead. And, then you focus on your completions and celebrate! Baby Steps: 1. Decide how important it is for you to do it, delegate it or delete it. 2. Decide when it should be done. 3. Schedule the time to do it – just like any appointment. 4. Do what you’re going to do TODAY. 5. If you do what you say you will do then you will grow your personal power and increase what you are capable of. |

How Far Have You Come? When we constantly are judging where we are compared to where we say we want to be, it’s not uncommon to judge ourselves as falling short and this, in turn, becomes a violation of the Law of Attraction. The Innate Desire To REACH!
As I alluded to at the end of the Video linked above, I discuss the idea that reaching is an INNATE drive that we, unfortunately, unconsciously and educatedly squash it out of our children.
Have you ever seen a child first learning to walk…taking their first steps? Sure and what happens? As they get more adept, they discover that they can reach things that they’ve never been able to reach before. And, as they do, what do they hear?
- Don’t
- Stop
- Bad
- Leave that alone
OR, WORST OF ALL… - Thats not for you to touch
And so, in a desire to protect our things and/or protect the child from any harm, what does the child learn? It’s OK for THEM to reach but not OK for me. What does that do to the child’s sense of self? Ever wonder why it may be so hard for you to reach?
In any case, it doesn’t have to be this way. Start educating your peeps on how important it is for children to have a safe environment, to reach and to be acknowledged for doing so!
